What Drives You: The Secrets to Motivating Yourself

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Motivation gives you the extra push you need to do something that you are probably scared of, or you don’t just feel like doing it. It is alright to motivate yourself to start a task, and all you need is extra push and encouragement. However, if you feel that you are not helping yourself enough or that your immediate environment is not helping, try reaching out to friends or relatives to discuss things with them.

●       Only 15% of employees around the world can honestly say they are engaged.

●       Employees that are engaged in their work have an 87% lower likelihood of quitting their jobs.

●       39% of workers report that they do not feel appreciated in their workplace.

●       81% of workers are currently considering leaving their current jobs in favor of other opportunities.

●       66% of workers reported that the availability of a corporate incentive program increased their desire to remain in their current position.

●       87% of workers anticipate that their employer will assist them in striking a healthy balance between their personal and professional responsibilities.

Values

What matters to you are your values. Your values also drive your motivation. You will not pursue a path of action unless it is related to something you value. Identifying your values allows you to jump-start your motivation, set appropriate goals, and devote time to the things that matter to you.

How Do You Form Your Values?

Your values are influenced by various factors, including your family, friends, religion, school, teachers, country, and media. Significant emotional events such as natural disasters, emotional abuse, worldwide depression, or war can also shape them at any point in your life. As you grow older, your values shift. When you change your values, you change parts of your beliefs and live your life.

Motivation

Your values drive your motivation. You will have the drive to assist you in reaching your goals if you set goals that are in line with your values. Setting goals incompatible with your values will make achieving them a difficult task.

You will gain a tremendous understanding of why you achieve the things you do in life after grasping your values and their impact on how you are now motivating yourself. You’ll also learn how to encourage yourself in the future better. Motivation can arise from within (intrinsic motivation) or from without (external motivation) (extrinsic motivation).

Study yourself and understand what fuels your strength most

If you ask many people what their rocket fuel is, their responses will differ. Why because what motivates every individual is different. Several motivational tools can help you get going, such as books, people’s biography, movies, role models, theoretical shows, music, exercise, magazines and trade journals, and the power of your immediate environment.

Don’t get it wrong: everyone has a bad day now and then, and that’s fine. Staying there isn’t a good idea! Have you ever encountered someone in a bad mood yet still managed to get something done? Whether it’s calling a buddy or going for a walk, doing something is a proven way to break out of a bad mood or frame of mind.

If you work hard to find the things that genuinely help you grow, you may write your prescription to solve the problem, just like a doctor.

One thing is sure: while you’re doing one of your “mood lifter” hobbies, it’s nearly impossible to stay down. So many individuals appear helpless, locked in dreary, uninteresting lives, and are “stuck in a rut.” It’s pretty unfortunate since if they only realized it, they would have complete power over the quality of their lives. Don’t live a “quiet desperation existence!”

Decide to live an exciting, productive, and motivation-filled life!
